I give God the glory and honor for this miracle that he has bestowed upon us. The Doctor just came in and said that he was targeting the end of the week for Marty to go HOME!! Everyone has a purpose in life. It's the reason we exist and each of our purpose is unique. God has a plan and a work for Marty to do ; I pray that he does it and God receives all the Glory that he deserves. Please continue to pray for Marty's complete and speedy recovery and just watch the hand of God move.

With much love,Sherry

Marty has had a very busy day. They removed his trach, both chest tubes, foley, and his central venous line. The only tube that remains is his feeding tube, which will be used for feedings @ night for an extra source of vitamins and nutrients. Please continue to pray for us both that we will keep the strength and do the will of my God. We are so grateful and thank my sister, Alisa, for all the hard work she has put into this website. We would like to thank everyone for the love and support that we have received. We have always known that we were loved, we just never knew to what extent! I will do the best I can to keep the blog updated and let you guys know what's going on with Marty's condition. Hope you all have a blessed and safe night!

With much love, Sherry

"God is good!" is what Marty wanted to tell everyone who have been praying for him. Today, he had another progressive day. Physical therapy came in and he stood up and put some weight on his right leg (the good one). Moving around for the first time in two weeks has been a challenge for him, but he has been a trooper. What was amazing was through it all, he didn't complain about the pain, the constant visits to his room from the medical staff, or the numerous tubes he had coming from his body. The constant in his words was how much he loved the Lord and how very lucky he is to have Him as his Lord and Savior. He still has the trach in his throat and is constantly coughing to break up the mucus in his chest. However, this is good for his recovery to get his chest clear and to make sure he doesn't get pneumonia. He still can't eat, but he is making strides to start. He has been eating ice chips and will probably be able to start eating after he passes his barium swallow test. The medical staff is also hopeful that they will get to remove the trach in 3-4 days. During the weekend, he had a lot of visitors: work friends, a lot of his family, and even someone who had never met him all came to see him.

Exodus 15:26 "He said, 'If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.'"

Please continue to pray for Marty and his family, that he will heal quickly and get home soon. As much as the Asheville area is beautiful, Marty and Sherry have seen enough of the scenic mountains and are ready to see the view from Cabinet Shop Road.

For those who do not believe in the power of prayer, faith, and miracles, there is one that is lying in a hospital room who has overcome so much. Marty was moved Friday to an open unit on the Trauma floor. He is alert, talking and very glad to be alive. Physical therapy, speech therapy, and respiratory therapy have all been working with him daily. Today, he stood up for the first time with the physical therapist. He is starting to work on swallowing so he can start eating again. He is still very weak, but God has brought Marty so far in the last 14 days.

Isaish 12: 4 "And in that day you will say, 'Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted.'"

It is such a humbling experience to see how far God has brought Marty from just a week ago. He is talking, doesn't have any memory loss. He is very thankful for all of your prayers and well wishes as he continues to recover.

2 Corinthians 4:15 "This is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God."

Our God is so good. This has been the best day in 10 days for the Brayboy family. Marty was less sedated today. At the 11am visit, he saw Mr. Robert, Mrs. Emma, Sherry, and Emery, he attempted to move his legs over the side of the bed and nurse had to keep him still. When Sherry asked him where was he going, he said "Home!". He is less sedated and getting stronger and stronger. After his procedures yesterday, they took him off some of the heavily sedating medications and it is beginning to show. He is awake more and looks better. They are going to try to take him off the ventilator today and see if his lungs are strong enough for him to breath on his own.

Psalm 28:7
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."

With God, we know that all things are possible. We know that he has a long recovery ahead of him, but we believe he has turned the corner. He continues to run a low grade temperature and that will have to be monitored. He is also in a lot of pain in his left leg. His family is so very grateful for your prayers of healing and support. Please continue to pray that his body will continue to heal.

Today has been a busy day. Marty has been running a low grade fever for the past few days. On Tuesday, it spiked at 103 and the medical staff started treating it more aggressively by putting him on a stronger antibiotic and putting a cooling blanket on him. They decided to do a CT scan on him today to see if they could determine the source of the high temperature, but the only thing they found was that he did have fluid on his lungs. They put in another chest tube on his left side (he still has one in on the right side as well) to drain the fluid off his lungs. Despite being moved, poked, and proded today, his color looks good and his Dr. is very optimistic about his recovery. With trauma patients, it is always a battle and small insignificant health challenges that you and I take for granted every day, like running a temperature can be a huge mountain for trauma patients. So, Marty will face set backs with his recovery, but the most important thing is that each set back is still bringing him back to restore his health.

The medical staff got his temperature down to 98, but still do not know what the source of high temperature is. It could be an infection. The doctors will be checking his central line today to see if that is the source of the infection. The central line is a catheter that is used to give patients all of their intravenous medication. They have cultured his blood and will know in another day if it is infection. Infection is one of the serious side effects of Marty's condition. Please continue to pray that his temperature stays down. It could be just from the inflammation from his injuries.

Marty has had his first 24 hours with the trach connected to the ventilator. The procedure went well, but he has been heavily sedated since the procedure. He no longer has the tube down his throat that was causing him a lot of pain and looks better. He had a tough night with pain. Each passing day means he is getting stronger. Today, more family is coming to visit and I know he will be very happy to hear the voices of all those who love him around. That along with the strength of our Lord and Savior is getting him through each breath that he takes. The most critical of his injuries is to his respiratory system. Please continue to join the family in prayer for healing and strength.

2 Cor. 12:9-10 "And he said unto me, 'My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."
